Best Practice - Do Not Provide Catalog Entries Until Asked

Best Practice - Do Not Provide Catalog Entries Until Asked

You could proactively visit the product catalog, and provide for each product you have:
  • The product / service name
  • The estimated revenue / unit
  • The estimated % margin
  • The estimated % tax
  • The product category
  • Etc.

However, this is a lot of work, which may not be needed.

Indeed, consider the following examples:
  • Product / service name
    • None of your incentive plans refer to transactions having specific products, so there is no need for this information.
  • Estimated revenue / unit
    • Your transactions already include a revenue total, so there is no need for this information.
  • Estimated % margin
    • None of your incentive plans use profit as a metric, so there is no need for this information.
  • Estimated % tax
    • Your transactions already include revenue which excludes taxes, so there is no need for this information.

We recommend you only provide information we ask for (using system alerts), as you submit a plan for calculation.
