Best Practice - Use Meaningful Transaction Dates

When importing transactions, you must map a field to category "Transaction Date".

This field will be used to determine whether a transaction is valid for a given time period (ex: Q3, November, etc.).

It's important that the chosen field and corresponding data be:
  • Meaningful - it should accurately represent the period for which the transaction should be counted (ex: if the transaction is for Q3, the date should be for Q3 - not Q2). Otherwise, the transaction could be counted towards the wrong period.
  • Immutable - it should not change once the transaction is deemed to qualify for crediting (ex: payment was received, the deal was considered "won", etc.). Otherwise, the transaction could be double-counted as its date changes (learn more here).
