How Can I Manually Adjust Sales Commissions?

How Can I Manually Adjust Sales Commissions?

There are 7 ways you can adjust sales commissions:
  • You can update sales data within your source system (ex: SalesForce):
    • Edit transactions at the source (ex: change the amount, owner, etc.)
    • Alternatively, add additional transactions (ex: with a negative amount, additional amount)
    • Wait for changes to sync to Sales Cookie (or re-upload)
    • Re-submit your calculation
  • You can make configuration changes to your incentive plan:
    • Edit your incentive plan
    • Update plan configuration
    • Re-submit your calculation
  • You can add a reward within Sales Cookie:
    • Edit your calculation
    • Click on the "Rewards" tab
    • Click on "+ Manual Reward"
    • Add a reward and save
    • This is also possible via incentive dashboards (click on the rewards tab and then "+ Manual Reward")
  • You can edit rewards within Sales Cookie:
    • Edit your calculation
    • Click on the "Rewards" tab
    • Click on the row you want to change
    • Make changes to the reward and save
  • You can update transactions within Sales Cookie:
    • Edit a transaction within Sales Cookie
    • Make changes to the transaction and save
    • Re-submit your calculation
  • You can edit per-transaction commission amounts
    • Edit a transaction within Sales Cookie
    • Click on the "Commissions" tab
    • Make changes to the per-transaction commission and save
    • More details are available here
    • This is also possible via incentive dashboards (click on a transaction under "Credited Transactions")
  • You can use bulk-edit tools
    • The Add Manual Rewards tool
    • The Add Manual Commissions tool
    • The Claw Back Commissions tool

So which way should you use? We recommend updating source sales data when possible. Your source data should be a single source of truth, and contains all relevant sales "facts". If this is not possible, consider updating plan logic so that rewards can be calculated correctly. In some cases, you may need to add a manual reward with an adjustment. Finally, your last option should be to edit transactions within Sales Cookie.

One option to manage commission overrides is to add a field within your source sales data with a special code. Plan commission logic can then fire based on what this code is set to. For example, you could set the field to "Extra-10", with a plan rule increasing commissions by 10%. The benefit is that your source data remains the single source of truth (and you've documented one-off commission behaviors within your data).

Additionally, tools are available to bulk-edit or adjust payouts. Under Settings > Tools, you will find bulk edit tools such as the following:

Updating Transactions Within Sales Cookie
If your sales transactions come from a connection, remember that transaction edits within Sales Cookie may be overwritten if the same record later changes within your source system. This may happen if Sales Cookie was configured to auto-sync changes every hour. You will be asked whether the changes you made within Sales Cookie should override future data syncs.
