You should release rewards when:
- You know when payees should expect payment
- Your released calculation ran AFTER all required transaction data was available
Briefly, if your calculation ran BEFORE relevant transaction data was available, you should not release it. Wait for the next auto-calculation, or run a manual calculation as needed.
You know when payees should expect payment
When releasing rewards, Sales Cookie will ask you to choose a release date. This can be the date your payees should expect a payment (or any other official date when commissions are declared as "earned" or "released"). Once you release a calculation, auto-calculations stop as you are making payouts official.
Your released calculation ran AFTER all required transaction data was available
If you want to release November commissions, but your last calculation ran on November 29, you may be missing records created on November 30. Make sure that the calculation you are releasing (whether manual or automated) ran AFTER your period's end.
When running a calculation from say November 1 to November 30, remember that this really means from November 1 to November 30 end of day (midnight). Sales Cookie uses your time zone (defined in settings) to precisely determine the exact cutoff time.
You can also check your current data sync status by going to the last tab of the Transactions > All Transactions page. This will show you, for each data source, when the last sync ran, and the timestamp of the most recent synched record. This can help you verify that all the required data is in before you calculate and release rewards.
